We had an exciting Christmas vacation this year! We went back home a weekend earlier than planned as my family was having one of their larger Christmas parties that weekend. In order to avoid an extra couple car trips with the girls in tow, we decided it would be best if I kept them with my parents for the week while Caleb went back to work. We hadn’t been away from each other since his internship prior to children, and it was pretty sad not to have him with us!! Abby loved skyping with Daddy every night and telling him about her day but wasn’t too fond of him being gone during bedtime routine. One nice thing about staying was that I got to see my sister, Trisha, for a few extra days. Since she and her hubby are currently residing in Montana I don’t get a lot of chances for that! Abby enjoyed the extra time with Trisha’s puppy, Hoss, as well…..
Caleb joined us again the following weekend and we enjoyed the holidays, although it turned out to be a little busier than we had anticipated. Caleb had a surprise interview with the company we had been dreaming to work for. They ended up giving him an offer the day he interviewed since he had an offer elsewhere to decide on that day. We accepted it with deep thankfulness and spent a lot of time trying to figure out housing options. It was truly amazing, as we had been praying that if this job was meant to be they would randomly call Caleb up and have him come in for an interview and that things would move very quickly…. and they did! It can be very freeing to pray for specific answers.
We all caught colds over Christmas (that we are still dealing with) but the girls have been real troopers with it. Abby loved playing with her cousins, aunts, and uncles. There are more children around my parents’ house than you would believe. haha My youngest brother is actually 2 months younger than Abby (thank you adoption) and was her extra special little friend this time. It was pretty adorable watching their personalities interact. Abby likes to come up with ideas and direct things (bossy? haha) and my easy going little brother was just fascinated with her ideas and loved doing whatever she told him. My favorite part was how Abby would rely on him for help. If she couldn’t lift something or needed pushed in her toy car, she would call for “John-John!” to come to her rescue and he would usually come running to help “Ba-bee”. Too funny….
We certainly felt blessed this Christmas with our two sweet girls and our new job about to become a reality. Things have been crazy busy, but we try to remind ourselves each day how thankful we are in the midst of it all! We finally celebrated our own little family Christmas on New Year’s morning. Abby enjoyed helping Evie with her present opening.
